IFFTI Students Design Competition- ‘Fashion in Motion’

Brief for the competition

Students are invited to participate in the competition through creating a small stop motion film about fashion.

Stop motion is a simple animation that is using sequential visuals of objects or drawings to create an animated effect. To create a stop motion film one just needs a digital camera and Adobe Photoshop. The animation can include existing objects or own drawings and illustrations.

The maximum duration of the .avi format film should be 1 minute, subject to a maximum file size of 15 MB.

Theme for the competition

The film should reflect a student’s personal view about how fashion is happening or perceived in the specific cultural region where they come from.

The story told through animation can be related to contemporary as well as traditional aspects of fashion. The viewpoint might be anything from being introspective, controversial, critical or comical but story which is told through the animation should be original.

The film can refer to anything that is commonly related to the scenario of designing, manufacturing or selling fashion. This can include figures, bodies or garments but could also relate to accessories, fabrics, trims, embellishments, colors, aspects of shopping, brands & labels or views about cut and fit or functional aspects.

Eligibility

Any student currently registered in a college that is a member of IFFTI.

Instructions

  • Use of copyrighted material other than recorded music is prohibited unless accompanied by permission to use these materials.
  • Plagiarism is defined as taking and using another person’s ideas, writings or inventions as one’s own. Plagiarized entries will be disqualified.

Assessment criteria

  • Conceptual originality - Originality refers to the kind of ‘characters’ (in the form of objects or illustrations) identified and the way in which they are animated through stop motion technique.
  • Innovative presentation - Identifying a simple object which is animated in a surprising manner can be as exciting as a complex illustration which is animated in `a simple way. This is where the challenge lies.
  • Communicational clarity - Thematic clarity and justice to the subject of the film.

  • Final submission along with complete personal and institutional details (Name, Age, Gender, Email ID, Institution, Address of institution, Course, Enrollment No:, Institutional mentor)

Reward

The winner will be rewarded with a cash prize of $ 2000/ (sponsored by IFFTI)

The runner-up will be rewarded a cash prize of $ 1000/ (sponsor will be separately announced.)
